Drug and Alcohol Rehab for Women
We are a Nova Scotian Rehab facility.
Treating drug and alcohol addiction in women
We recognize that women who are seeking treatment for alcohol and drug addiction have specific needs. There are differences between the challenges faced by men and those faced by women when it comes to seeking and embracing recovery.

A female first approach to treating addiction in women

Our approach
The distinct characteristics of the female experience cannot be separated from the program of recovery that a woman will seek out in order to deal with their addiction. Acknowledgment of the different experiences that women face within our society as a whole, and within the recovery process, in particular, is paramount to a program that is to be successful.

Psychology First
We believe that taking a psychology-first approach to treatment works best when we treat addiction in women. Often we find that when treating addiction in women we must first address issues of childhood sexual abuse, rape, or physical violence these factors must be acknowledged within the specificity of the female experience and healing has to happen as a part of the recovery process.

Taking a ‘real world’ approach
While we understand the philosophy behind rehabilitation programs that are for women only, we believe that interaction between our male and female clients will better prepare them for the societal realities that await them.
A gender free, neutral, universal program of recovery is NOT a realistic or productive means by which to address the reality of women’s addiction.

Welcome to Searidge Alcohol Rehab
Situated in Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia. We are a residential rehab with a focus on the individual, we believe everyone who comes to us is a unique complex person who deserves a uniquely personal approach to treatment. While we may offer private rooms, amazing meals, inspired therapy, recreational and holistic therapies and a heated pool, we pride ourselves on provided an elevated level of service at an affordable price. We think everyone deserves the right to be whole, well and healed and our approach and pricing reflects that.

Games Room

After a day of therapy residents often gravitate towards the games room to shoot some pool or play a game of darts, or maybe indulge in some competitive video gaming. Games are fun, but did you know that play and social interactions like these are also a important aspect of the healing process? By providing our residents with a safe space to relax and have fun we are also showing them that alcohol does not need to play a part in enjoying activities. Yep, shooting a game of pool can also be a lesson in socializing sober. And to be fair, its also important to just have fun.
Kitchen

Proper diet and nutrition are frequently collateral damage the body suffers with alcoholism. Recovery is a deeply personal journey and we can not dictate when your appetite will return. we can guarantee though that our dedicated creative kitchen staff will help you remember just how amazing food is. Open 24/7 the fridge is always packed with prepared meals, fruits, beverages and treats too so residents can forage for themselves when the hunger strikes.
Comfortable Private Rooms

Recovery is work and when you need to rest the last thing you want to worry about is stressing about another body in your space, that is why all residents have a private room and bathroom too. Many of our graduates told us that the BEST part about having your their room was that it allowed them to bring their pet with them.
Yoga and Exercise Room

Move that body! We host yoga for every body type twice a week. The practice of Yoga is a whole mind body breath thing. Even big burly buff dudes find themselves melting into their mats after a hour of slow mindful stretching. Our exercise room is also equipped with treadmills, free weights, kettle balls and whatever that other thing is.
Heated Pool

Open in season residents can quickly shed the summer heat by taking a dip in our heated pool. Not a swimmer? No problem. We made sure that we placed a bunch of lounge chairs around the pool, there is nothing like baking in the sun then cooling off in the pool to reinvigorate your senses. Whether your part dolphin or more of a sun worshiper, any time spent pool side is a good time.
Community Fire Pit

It would be madness not to take advantage of our stunning surroundings, so we added a great communal fire space. Residents can gather, roast marshmallows, sing songs and have those kinds of conversations that only happen when people sit under the stars to watch the flames!
Therapy & Activities Room

Aside from the kitchen and of course your room this will be a space you visit several times a day. It's where we host group therapy sessions along with art therapy, music therapy, movie nights and we've even held a Super Bowl party in here.
Nature Trails

Take a stroll on one of the well tended walking trails that weave their way around the grounds, grab a seat on a bench and listen to nature do her thing, you can even hear the ocean, healing, calming and when you have your pup with you it becomes a grand adventure!
Support & Meds

Our friendly certified addictions counsellors and support staff are never more than a short stroll away, pop in for a chat, they love to listen. You will also find the the medical room adjacent to support where our professional medical staff are always here to help.
The Blue House

It's called the blue house because, well, it's blue.
But you won't be after your therapy session. This is the main office where you will check in on arrival, and it's also where your one to one therapy sessions will be held with one of our compassionate Therapists or Certified Addictions Counsellors.

FAQ
What makes Searidge different from other rehabs?
How does Searidge help women get their health back?
What alternative therapies are used to help women in rehab?
When people think of rehab they usually associate it with a very clinical mindset. But we believe that the inclusion of alternative healing modalities is an important aspect of the process. By utilizing ‘Natural’ healing therapies, we are able to offer new ways to help our clients overcome addiction. Natural or “home” remedies have been a big part of every culture since the dawn of humankind. Thousands of years ago, it was all we had, and it allowed us to prosper and build the incredible civilizations and ways of life we hold so dear today. Modern medicine would never have reached such an impressive state as it exists in today had it not been for healers, shamans, and medicine women of many, many generations past.

Stories of Recovery
“Addressing the Roots of Opiate Addiction”
“It took a lot for me to first admit that I had a problem and second to do something about it. “
“When I arrived I had a warm welcome from Catherine and knew that the staff was there to help. I found that the group discussions were helpful in finding a way for me to be happy without drugs. When you go to rehab for one month it’s not a lot of time. If I hadn’t gone I probably would be right back where I came from. I stay in touch with the staff as they help me stay on track.”
“My daughter was a client of Catherine’s and her outstanding team of addiction treatment professionals.”
“The key word here is “professional”. My husband and I attend family of addicts support groups in the US and we have heard many horror stories about treatment facilities. Our experience was very positive. My daughter has been sober for almost a year. These people are compassionate, knowledgeable, informative, highly ethical and always maintain the highest degree of professionalism in dealing with their clients and the entire family.”
